CONSULMAR was established in 1970 as a consultancy specializing in marine works and port installations. Within a few years the company had achieved a secure position, in both national and overseas markets, in port planning and structures, coastal engineering, and marinas, and has since spread its activity to the wider fields of general transport infrastructure and the environment, as well as supervision and control of works.

CONSULMAR deploys today a multidisciplinary technical team, and remains a fully independent company, totally owned by its senior staff, through a public holding company, CONSULMAR, SGPS, SA.

CONSULMAR has a quality management system certified by ISO 9001 for the activities of “Engineering and Architectural Design, Design Revision, Consultancy and Technical Assistance; Project Management and Works Supervision” and is qualified as "Construction Projects Quality General Manager", by the National Civil Engineering Laboratory (LNEC).
